Great routes and brilliant atmosphere built from the crowd in Gijon. Fluent hard physical routes on crimps and slopers with a lot of endurance required. Extremely bouldery sections, with uncomfortable and risky moves in between.

Romain Desgranges and Maja Vidmar came out in the middle of the field and ended up with slips unfortunately early. Magdalena Röck did a great climb but was beaten by Mina Markovic just by essentially one move so far. Domen Skofic did an impressive climb and leaded until Sachi Amma came out. Amma did not look comfortable as he does normally but ended up to lead the competition at this stage, even Jacob Schubert who came out next could not score higher. At this moment it’s been clear there will be a new World Champion as well for the men’s. Anak Verhoeven missed out low. Adam Ondra did a perfect run that looked almost effortless and could just not top out by two moves. Next Kim Jain and she went simply sublime and topped out without any struggle, she made even the hard bouldery sections look so easy, and there are no words how aesthetical she climbed that route. Kim Jain just won the world champion title very well deserved. Everyone could see how emotional and how much it means to her. Ramón Julian Puigblanque came out last and did a perfect climb, partially a bit shaky but he managed to get really high. He run against the clock of Adam Ondra and he left to only top out. He managed to get the same height as Adam Ondra but slipped to get the + that Adam got while moving to the next hold. History has been written by Adam to become the first double world champion in Lead climbing and Bouldering.

What an amazing competition, great folks behind the athletes and of course the very best climbers of the world that delivered a fantastic event.

Congratulations to all the climbers and specifically to Jain Kim and Adam Ondra.
