As the DAV climbing center Oberbayern reported, Marietta Uhden succumbed the night on Monday 24/11/2014, after a long and serious illness. Already in recent years Marietta fought with all their strength and their very positive way against cancer.
The DAV climbing center Upper Bavaria South in Bad Tölz wrote:

Marietta Uhden (born July 5, 1968 in Munich) was ten times German champion in sport climbing and two-time German champion in bouldering (2 titles), won the 2000 Bouldering World Cup in Munich and received at the World Championships in Paris in 1997 and at the 2005 World Games in Duisburg bronze medal.

Already in 1997 Marietta climbed the route “Happy biceps to you” (Schleier Wasserfall) graded 8b+, which could be a solid 8c today. As the first woman worldwide she could send a route in the region of the eleventh degree, “Sun in the Heart” (Bavarian Alps, 11-).

In 2005, Marietta withdrew deliberately from the competition scene and went back entirely to her true passion, rock climbing. Marietta found her fulfillment in addition to the intimate family life and rock climbing, was also able to convey this to others.

The team and the climbers inside the DAV composite climbing facilities in Bad Tölz, Munich and Gilching lose with Marietta Uhden not only a very special athlete, but also a very good friend who was always welcome. The climbers loses with Marietta an outstanding personality.

Her family and friends had to let go a wonderful and life-affirming person. They deserve our sincere condolences and sympathy.

This condolences are as well deeply shared by Boulderx who know Marietta from several competitions. This is truly sad time for the entire sport climbing scene and we will never forget about her.
