Grand Final of IFSC Lead World Cup in Kranj & Overall Champions 2012

The last stage of the Lead World Cup held last weekend in Kranj, Slovenia, was won by home-athlete Mina Markovic who has now won her second overall World Cup. In the men’s event Austria’s Jakob Schubert won the Kranj stage while second-placed Sachi Amma from Japan won his first World Cup title.

The final stage of the Lead World Cup 2012 went down to the wire on Sunday 18 November in Kranj, Slovenia. After Saturday’s Semifinal, the 2012 Lead World Cup title was still up for grabs and only a win – in both the male and female category – would ensure overall victory.

Adieu Patrick Edlinger

On Friday 16 November 2012 Patrick Edlinger died aged 52. The Frenchman was one of the early pioneers and absolute legends of sport climbing.
It seems almost impossible, but the news has been confirmed by French newspaper Le Dauphine which stated that last Friday Patrick Edlinger passed away. No cause of death was given. It’s superfluous to say that the news of his death has profoundly shaken the sport climbing community which recognised the Frenchman as being one of the greatest of this sport ever. Speculations that the Frenchman fall from a stair are not confirmed so far. Patrick leaving a ten year-old daughter.
